Introducing the famous Bibimbap Bowl!

2015-11-04 03.48.45

I love to cook when I need to unwind, given my very busy schedule recently, this was much needed R&R. I know many would not agree that cooking is a form of R&R, but I would have to agree to disagree. I am very much interested in art & to me cooking up a storm in the kitchen is a form of art. Look at my bibimbap bowl for example, there are so many colors and different techniques required to get the final project aka YUMMY FOOD!

Now here is the part that I know everyone is waiting for, the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • Sushi Rice
  • Eggs
  • Short ribs
  • Bean sprouts
  • Carrots
  • Miso dressing (soybean paste, sesame oil, scallions, mustard, water)
  • Kimchi!!

So I LOVE spicy food, which is why I had to add the exclamation marks after Kimchi. it is simply the best. I come from a Russian background and we love to ferment food, but we do not have anything similar to kimchi. Because of that I always go to Greendland Market or 99 Ranch to get my kimchi fix.

Directions:

  1. Boil 2 cups of dry rice for 20 minutes (for every cup of rice, add 2 cups of water)
  2. Fry the rice after boiling it to make it crispy & yummy for the bowl!
  3. Cook the short ribs, 2-3 minutes on each side
  4. Steam bean sprouts in hot water for 2-4 minutes
  5. Fry an egg for each bowl
  6. Mix the homemade miso dressing with the rice, then add short ribs & kimchi/carrots/bean sprouts. Finally add the fried egg on top, because YOLK is everything!

Voila! This recipe makes four bowls of kimchi, perfect for me, because I meal prep for the week. If you do not like to meal prep, you can always have a small dinner party with friends and family! Ciao for now!
