Do You Have Faith in the Flower?

Downtown LA is home to many of the trendy restaurants such as Bottega Louie, Bestia, and Faith and Flower. But how many of them connect you back to the late 1800s? The answer is one and it goes by the name of Faith and Flower. This gem opened it’s doors exactly one year ago (Happy Anniversary Rob Weakley & David Bernahl!).

I came here for their Social Hour on a Thursday evening, which is from 5:00-6:30pm Thursday-Sunday. They offer $8 cocktails designed by their Chief Mixologist, Michael Lay. As for food, they serve $5 deviled jidori kimchi eggs, $6 duck liver mousse tarts, $14 Margherita pizzas, and my personal favorite $1 oysters. To be completely honest I did not expect their oysters to be as amazing as they were. Most places in LA serve their lesser quality oysters for Happy Hour, but that was not the case here. The oysters were big in size and came with lemons and pink peppercorn mignonette directly from their oyster bar. Lay’s most famous drink is called, English Milk Punch. Sadly I did not get to try it out, as I devoured 16 oysters and knew mixing them with milk clarification would be a total tummy disaster.

Not only do I give their food two thumbs up, their interior design is absolutely stunning, which was done by AvroKO. I love the history I felt once I walked in and saw a massive chandelier with over 4,000 feet of chain. Then as you keep walking there is a lengthy yellow velvet booth that is the longest Chesterfield booth in the world. I noticed emerald green wine glasses at every table and I really started to get a feel for the Victorian aura going on. Towards the back there is a wall covered in vintage mirrors that form the shape of a tree. Definitely one of the hottest places in Downtown LA and totally worth the visit. I know I’ll be coming back for their English Milk Punch! Pictures included in the bottom of the post.
